Rendezvous in the Beaufortain: an excursion that starts along the water's edge, continues up the rock face and ends at the bottom of a cellar, with buildings, beliefs and secrets inscribed in history and landscapes along the way.
In the morning, drive to Beaufort. Visit the old town and the church of Saint-Maxime, rebuilt in the 17th century, with its richly decorated interior and pulpit. Visit the Beaufort dairy cooperative to learn all the secrets of how the prince of Gruyère cheese is made and tasted!
Lunch in the heart of Beaufort village.
Afternoon visit to the Roselend site (1500 m), a lookout near the gigantic dam of the same name, and the story of the Marie-Madeleine chapel near the reservoir.
OR Hauteluce visit to Saint-Jacques-d'Assyrie church and chapels.
OR Arêches, a genuine village resort with characteristic Beaufortain architecture.
