Bon à savoir
The Mont-Cenis Pyramid Museum serves as a testament to this place, steeped in thousands of years of history. The museum’s exhibits chronicle the history of Mont Cenis, from the 18th century through the 1960s, when the construction of the dam transformed life on the plateau.
The Mont-Cenis Pyramid, built in 1967, is one of the highest museums in Europe, located at an altitude of 2,100 meters. This unusual pyramid catches the eye, but for architect Philippe Quinquet, this shape was essential to ensure it would blend seamlessly into the landscape. The museum explores many aspects of the history of travel along this historic route as well as local life: famous figures, transportation, villages, and the dam that has shaped the history of this site.
Take the opportunity to explore the Alpine Garden at the foot of the Pyramid, then hike up to Fort de Ronce.
