Descriptif détaillé

Built in 1518 for 5 hamlets, Beaune's Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church has witnessed 5 centuries of history, from the Duchy of Savoy to France, via the Sardinian kingdom. Over the years, it has been enlarged, embellished and restored. It celebrated its 500th anniversary in 2018.

Each time visitors and parishioners enter, they are delighted by the beauty of the monument and its rich Baroque ornamentation, and can only pay tribute to those who built and adorned it over the years, with their own money (florins in those days!). As you cross the threshold, you can't help but fall in love with the gold of the altarpieces and the freshness of the frescoes.

It underwent major restoration work between 1986 and 1992, and is now listed, along with 80 other churches and chapels, on the "Chemins du Baroque ® " list.
In 2016, following a visit by the Conservateur en Chef des Antiquités et Objets d'Art de Chambéry (CAOA), justice was done to its jewels with the classification of 16 remarkable objects as Monuments Historiques.
The Beaune heritage site (church and chapels) joined the Savoie Mont Blanc Heritage Guides network in 2016.
