Meet the mountain farmers, learn about the village's heritage, and take a walk in the alpine pastures with FACIM, SEA and Beaufort (Fondation pour l'Art et la Culture Internationale en Montagne), SEA (La Société d'Economie Alpestre) and Beaufort (Syndicat de Défense du Beaufort).
A short visit to a characteristic spot in the village of Le Plan, the Chef-Lieu d'Albiez, before heading up to the mountain pastures in your own vehicle to experience part of the life of a mountain farmer, from milking to harvesting the fruit of his labor.
In the late afternoon, the mountain pasture comes alive, at an altitude of 2,000 m, at the foot of the majestic Aiguilles d'Arves. The cows are grouped together, and we'll watch them being milked in the presence of the farmer, who is passionate about his work.
After a short walk and plenty of explanations about the life of men and women in the mountains during the summer season, I'll show you the landscape and the various mountain ranges that surround us: Vanoise, Belledonne, Grandes Rousses, Aiguilles d'Arves and the main peaks.
I'll explain the different types of Beaufort cheese, the particularities of their production, and the history of this ancestral tradition and its evolution to the present day.
During the tour, we'll taste the warm milk from the milking and the Beaufort made at the Vallée des Arves dairy cooperative, among the cows.
Meeting point at Place Opinel, after a tour of the village's characteristic sites, you'll take your own vehicle up to the mountain pastures.
