Launched at the initiative of the Ministry for Culture and Communication in Fontainebleau castle in 2005, the ‘ Les Portes du temps' operation has the objective of :
-opening up the heritage sites in a volontarist and adapted way, to youngsters who do not have access to the heritage, who do not feel concerned, or even feel excluded from this cultural universe. Originating from difficult urban or rural areas, these youngsters do not go away on summer holidays .
- This day in the ‘Portes du temps' was conceived as a real educative and cultural project, it must provide them with the elements for understanding the world surrounding them and make them think about citizenship and living together. For living together, is also understanding the history and the heritage which gives us our ties.
During the summer holidays, this operation takes place on a national level in 22 sites with 30,000 youngsters.
The Fondation Facim has participated in the ‘Portes du Temps' since 2006. Discovery programmes for youngsters from 8 to 13 years old in the counties of Savoy, Isere and the Rhone, have been organised in partnership with the ‘delegation des Francas' and the local participants.
